Hiding Your Instagram Story

When you hide your Instagram story from someone, they won't be able to see anything you add to your story in the future. However, they can still see your profile and regular posts. No one you block will be notified that you blocked them.

Open the Instagram app on your smartphone. It’s the purple, pink, and orange icon with a white camera inside. You can usually find its icon in your app drawer or on the home screen.^{[1]

- Log in to your Instagram account with username and passwords, if you haven't already done so.

Open the profile of the user you would like to hide your Stories from. Use the search bar to find their account.

Tap on the three dots icon. You can find ⋮ or ⋯ the in the top-right corner of the profile page. This will open a menu tab.

Tap on the Hide your story option. You can see it under the “Restrict” option in the list. A pop-up message will appear on your screen.

Tap on Hide from the pop-up box. Now the user can't see anything you add to your story in the future. This change doesn't prevent them from seeing your profile and posts. Also, Instagram won't let them know you hid them from seeing your Stories. That's it!
- To unhide a story from a user, just go to the user's profile and tap on the three dots icon, then select “Unhide your story” from the options.

Navigate to your Story creator tab. Swipe to the right from your home tab or select “Story” from the create + button or just to access it.

Tap on the Settings icon. It's a gear icon at the top-left corner of your screen. This will lead you to the Camera settings page.

Tap on the Story option. You can also access these story settings by going to Settings> Privacy> Story.

Select the “Hide story from” option. Tap the number of people next to the “Hide story from” title to open the settings page.

Select the people you'd like to hide your story from. You can see the list of your followers there. Just tap on their name to select it. You can also use the search box to quickly find the users.

When you're done, tap “Done” on iPhone or tap the back button on Android. Now the selected users will no longer be able to see your story or live videos. If you want to unhide your story from someone, unselect them from the same settings page. That's it!^{[3]
