Why Does My Monitor Say No Signal?

If your monitor says No Signal, it isn't receiving the video signal from your computer. To fix this, check the video output, cables, and ports. If you have a separate GPU, make sure the monitor is connected to the GPU rather than the motherboard.

  1. Some devices won't automatically mirror your original screen; you'll need to change this manually.
    • On Windows, press Windows + P to select Duplicate, Extend, or Second screen only.
    • On Mac, click the Apple menu > System Settings > Display > display name > Use as.[1]
    • On some devices, you may need to open the port first. Oppido advises to look for a key with a "little hieroglyphic that looks like two boxes with a slash in between them"[2] and press it. You may need to hold down the Function key to activate it.
