Learn the Draft Pick and Ban feature

Once you pass the Grandmaster rank in Mobile Legends, you won't be given the usual hero-selection moment as seen before. Instead, you will have to endure a Draft Ban and Pick for heroes, which requires you to become more strategic. This wikiHow will help you assist the phases of Draft Picks, which is available through all ranked games once you reach Epic.

  1. 1
Choose which lanes you want to play. Before you start matchmaking, you need to select at least two lanes to prioritize. Select the lanes where you are most comfortable doing; for example, if your main is a Mage and your alternate main hero is someone who mainly jungles, then you would select Mid Lane and Jungle.
    • There is an option to select all five lanes by selecting Role Fill. This is recommended if you are extremely familiar and you have multiple heroes that you can switch to regardless of the game.
  2. 2
Start a Ranked game! Unlike before, it will be a mystery who you'll be getting, as all of the player's profile pictures are censored.
    • In Legend and above, you will only see yourself in the waiting line.

Remember to click on Enter to start the game. Not doing so will result in warnings and your credit score decreased.

  3. 3
Check what lane you received. Depending on what lane you prioritized before matchmaking, the game will choose a lane that is available. At this point, you cannot automatically change your lane.
    • If you want to swap your lane with another player, you will need to click on the player and select “Swap Lane.” The player needs to accept the request.
    • It should be noted that you are required to follow your lane for most of the game. If you are discovered to not follow the lane throughout (e.g., you are in Mid Lane but you decide to choose a Gold Lane hero regardless) you might lose Credit Score if reported.
  4. 4
Ban certain heroes. If you are in the bottom 3 of the team (Epic) or the bottom 4 (Legend), you are expected to ban a hero. Think of someone who is currently in the Meta and can dominate in the game. Put in the thought of some examples, including Hayabusa, Hanzo, Lukas, or Zeitan.
    • Alternatives can include Zhuxin, Fanny, Saber, Estes, or Harley. However, avoid troll bans, including heroes that are not used a lot in Ranked Mode.
    • Remember that this is a blind ban - it’s possible that the same hero could be selected to be banned.
    • Avoid being AFK during the process. This is an important ban process and if you slip a ban, you could allow the enemy team to choose powerful heroes. You will not automatically ban a hero from the game.
    • In Mythic/MCL matchups, everyone will ban a hero of their choice, regardless of slot placement.
  5. 5
Communicate with your team. Suggest certain bans of heroes, suggest what strategy you'll do (1-3-1 or 1-2-2), or tell them your win rate to get swapped.
    • It's also the time to point out what the enemy may do, including if the jungler could be a hard carry.
  6. 6
Select your heroes. It's not always guaranteed that you'll get your hero, due to certain players swapping for meta heroes and choosing counters over their main hero. Just note that this isn't a battle to select a hero the fastest, this is a chance to adjust what the enemy selects.
    • Think of counter picks of a certain hero. This is well known for Mage users since his squishiness can be a problem due to OP heroes (mostly Marksman heroes).
    • Also think of the MMR that the player is providing. If the player is mentioning that they have 2300 MMR for that hero, but the other has an MMR of 1980, it's recommended to swap the more dependent one. However, check if your teammates want the hero as well.
  7. 7
Change your hero. When the final preparations open up, there's a chance you can swap your hero. However, the ally needs to have the same hero and agree once the request pops up.
    • Once the final preparations finish, you will play a ranked game as usual.
